This most recent work is consistent with a practice which includes several acts of copying. Twice now she has made a public performance of having her hair cut in an exact copy of an artist's hair whose practice she admires. She has also spent two weeks painstakingly making a copy onto a gallery wall of the decorative paint effect in the takeaway pizza place opposite. She liked the fact that once she had finished they could look at each other across the road. For IRL SDL which is currently on display at the Chums show until this Sunday, she has made several sculptural copies of the pattern repeat on a piece of vintage fabric. IRL SDL (In Real Life Stella Dallas Living) is more a mapping of its processes than the result of a determination to create a certain aesthetic. It maps the buying of the fabric, one vintage piece found in NYC, its whole used in the sculpture. The papier maché sculptures of the fabric's pattern repeat are intended to declare nothing more than 'I did this - I made 3D copies of these motifs'.
